Google will post report on location history

staking after criticism
Google has modified the text that it displays with a Google Account option to turn location history off, to make it clear that other company services can still track the location.

The new description states that turning location history on a Google account has no effect on other location services and that some location data may be stored based on activity with other services, such as Search and Maps. AP writes that refers to an Internet Archive page that contains the old text from earlier this week.

On the Dutch page, the old text also says: “If the location history is disabled, the places you go to will not be saved.” AP pointed out on Monday that this text is not correct . Turning off location history only ensures that Google does not create a location timeline of users, but some apps and services still store location data and associated times. That institution can be managed in a different location .

Google then said that the text was clear enough according to them. In contrast to AP, the company now declares that the text has been adjusted to provide clarity and consistency.
