Google will release domain name to search engine DuckDuckGo




DuckDuckGo, the search engine that the user says he does not follow, after years of frustration, the domain name received. He had been in possession of Google since 2010.

Weinberg had been pursuing the shorter domain name for many years, because his search engine would be much easier to find for the general public.

However, Google did not initially feel called to hand over the domain name. The search giant acquired in 2010 through the acquisition of the company On2 Technologies , formerly known as The Duck Corporation. Much to the frustration of DuckDuckGo, visitors of simply ended up on the homepage of arch-rival Google all these years. In order to appease the conflict, Google finally added a link to DuckDuckGo on that page, but since Wednesday the domain belongs completely to the alternative search engine. Whether, and if so how much money DuckDuckGo has had to pay to Google, is not known.
