GoPro takes French virtual reality business on




GoPro has announced that the French company Kolor has taken over. Kolor develops software that photos and videos can be stitched together in order to generate panoramic images for use in, among other virtual worlds.

An acquisition price was not mentioned by GoPro, but the company let it know that the software of Kolor can be used to good action images shot with GoPro cameras to convert to a virtual reality experience.

The software from the French company has also adapted for mobile devices and the necessary player can be turned into a browser. Kolor continue to operate in France and there will be no layoffs as a result of the acquisition.

GoPro knew in the quarter to sell about 1.3 million units. In the same quarter last year, that number was still at 852,000 units. Revenue rose 54 percent to $ 363 million, or 331 million euros. Additionally, GoPro makes profit again, the camera manufacturer saw this doubling to 16.8 million dollars.
