Government will block chain innovations financially support




The government will make money available for companies working on applications of the block chain technology. Minister Kamp of Economic Affairs supports a proposal to encourage the development of such applications.

The government makes 2017 budget free for stimulating ‘secure exchange of digital information via block chain technology. The amendment to this end Thursday received the support of the minister when discussing the budget of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Companies that want to qualify for subsidy, next year can make a request with an SBIR -oproep. SBIR stands for Small Business Innovation Research. With the support of the National Entrepreneurial Netherlands companies may be able to qualify for financial support that allows them to further develop their project.

The amendment was tabled by the second MP Verhoeven D66. Which would prefer that the government block chain also will deploy itself: “The government has a lot of data and complex processes such as payments of rent supplements, care fees, keeping the register of the Chamber of Commerce with block chain technology that could be better run.”.

A block chain is like a distributed ledger to record transactions safe and transparent. The technology is especially known as the underlying platform of the Bitcoin. They are suitable not only to record transactions, but can be used for all kinds of events in so-called smart contracts.
