GSA: number of LTE connections limit is passed 1 billion worldwide
The umbrella organization of mobile operators agree that the counter of the number of LTE subscribers at the end of 2015 stood at 1.068 billion. Meanwhile, would one in seven mobile connections worldwide pass through LTE.
In the fourth quarter of 2015 there were 156 million LTE connections in which the 1 billion mark was passed late in 2015. Moreover, the number of LTE connections is increasing faster than the number of 3G connections. The Global mobile Suppliers Association expects that LTE has overtaken 2020 3g terms of numbers.
Europe is only 14.9 percent of the global amount of LTE subscribers. Asia and Australia take by far the largest part accounted for 580 million, or a share of 54.3 percent. Of these, 386 million in China. In the US and Canada are now 237 million LTE users, or 22.2 percent.
In South America, the Middle East and Russia there are 54 million, respectively, 32.5 and 11.7 million LTE subscribers. Worldwide, there are now 7.343 billion mobile subscriptions, calculates the GSA.
