The hacker in question, Justin Case, got root access and started the Android Debug Bridge to connect to a PC within five minutes by making use of several vulnerabilities in Black Phones implementation of Android 4.4.2. use The Swiss SGP Technologies, the company behind Android fork Priv Atos and Black Phone has confirmed the hack.

Case admits that the hack Priv Atos is only possible with the knowledge and cooperation of the user, so that users are not at risk of hackers take over the phone. Nevertheless, it is a setback for Black Phone, which has on-board software that was created by co-founder Phil Zimmermann PGP. The Swiss smartphone maker, a joint venture of the Spanish Geeksphone and Zimmermanns company Silent Circle, the hacker a t-shirt given as a reward and has one of the vulnerabilities already plugged in an update that came out for the hack. Case is now focusing on cracking BlackBerry 10.

KPN is presumably the Black Phone release later this year. The release was scheduled for this summer, but the provider says it wants better test how the Black Phone user privacy guarantees and therefore the release put out.
