Hackers steal data from three Dutch top athletes

Hackers have managed to steal the medical data of three Dutch top athletes. According to NOC * NSF, the athletes involved were informed of the theft, but it is not known who it is.

The news was brought out by a spokesperson for the sports umbrella NOC * NSF. According to Geert Slot, the data of three Dutch top athletes have been stolen, but the spokesman did not want to tell who exactly it is; Due to medical confidentiality, no further information can be given about this, as Mr Slot said to the AD.

Probably Russian hackers are responsible for data theft. The data of the Dutch athletes would probably have been captured in a hack where the data of hundreds of athletes in the street have come to lie. This involves athletes from thirty different countries.

This week the military intelligence service MIVD already announced that it had arrested Russians because of a hacking attempt in The Hague, and the US authorities complained to seven Russians for stealing data, including from athletes. Russia has so far denied any involvement. With the stealing and publication of medical data from athletes, the Russian government would like to divert the attention of the doping scandals in their own country.
