Hackers steal passwords forums support Tapatalk




Tapatalk has been a victim of a hack which include encrypted passwords stolen from users of the support forums. There are also possible passwords obsolete in plaintext. It is still unclear exactly how much data has been stolen.

On the support forums itself gives an admin Tapatalk that there are hackers have penetrated the servers. Under the database information are stolen passwords used to log in on the support forums. Passwords that are used on the Tapatalk app itself logging would not be stolen.

Stolen passwords are equipped with encryption so that they are not immediately useful. Yet Tapatalk has sent an email to its users with the demand to set a new password. Incidentally, at the time of the hack have changed some settings, allowing the user credentials in unencrypted have been obtained by the hackers: According Tapatalk the hackers have already invaded on 9 December and are intercepted login attempts from that date. How many passwords in total came into the hands of hackers is not clear.

Tapatalk is software that can use site builders to adapt their forum software for use on mobile phones. For this, a special API has been developed. Users can use multiple forums simultaneously with the application.
