Hackers take largest billboard of Belgium temporarily – update
Hackers have the largest billboard of Belgium at the weekend in Brussels Brouckèreplein taken over temporarily. The Coca-Cola advertisement was replaced by different images and some text. The perpetrators have released a video of the operation.
The video that made the two of the hack spread on social media and was picked up by Belgian newspapers and news sites. To commit the hack, the hacker and his cameraman had to physically reach the billboard by going on the roof of the building. On the basis of the images is impossible to estimate whether the two for this purpose had to commit break-in or not. They move in any event on private property. How long to see the images were adapted from the Belgian court is not clear.
How easy or difficult was the hack in a technical sense, it is also not clear. What can be seen in the images is that the computer that is connected to the electronic billboard runs on Windows XP. It is uncertain, however, whether this system is hacker, or the owner of the billboard. On the board after the hack was a troll face, to see a pair of breasts and says “hello bxl ‘. The latter is an abbreviation for Bruxelles. The city of Brussels could have filed suit against the two unknown hackers, write the Francophone Sudpresse newspapers.
Update, 15:26: Tweaker Bazi brings the editors in the comments aware of the fact that the film earlier than last weekend was made on social media. Moreover, it apparently involves a production of a marketing company, possibly commissioned by the soft drink manufacturer.
