Hardwaretak Jolla splits off and only focuses on the development Sailfish OS

Jolla stops developing phones and tablets and will only focus on the development and licensing of Sailfish OS. There is a separate company that will have the task of making hardware with Sailfish OS.

Jolla will be the Tablet Jolla will deliver, but stops with the development of hardware. The company says. The Finnish company is going to only focus on the development of Sailfish OS and selling licenses for that operating system.

After the summer Jolla present how it will look like separate company which will develop hardware for Sailfish OS. Presumably the staff that worked on the development of new devices move over there. When these phones and tablets with Sailfish OS appear, is still unknown.

It is also unclear whether companies that have licensed Sailfish OS. Last week it was rumored that YotaPhone Android would swap for Sailfish OS, but both companies deny. Well it seems that the Russian government is interested in making a variation on Sailfish OS for YotaPhone.

Jolla began several years ago with the base MeeGo, Nokia and Intel jointly developed. Moreover, many were former engineers from Nokia to work with the new Finnish company.
