Jedi Council Room

In modern business, more companies have been meeting with telecommunication devices. Remote presence at the conference can provide a video camera and microphone. But what about the holographic telepresence? The company Microsoft is developing a system that will feel like one of the members of the Jedi Council (motion picture “Star Wars” ), which could be present at the meetings in the form of holographic images.

According to a posting on the Microsoft website announcement, the company is looking for engineers to develop software for the team Startup Business Group, which is currently working on a new project:

We develop hardware and software to produce realistic images that can replace a participant. This image should give the feeling of being a remote worker to the table, the opportunity to look around at the sides and turn to the other party during intercourse.

Sounds like a continuation of the project Viewport, which Microsoft Research department announced in April last year. A team of researchers proposed a system that to create a holographic image using infrared cameras, projectors and apparatus for color imaging. The aim of the project is to create a support system for immersive telepresence.
