Now one of the popular artistic elements of photography is the blurring of the background. Manufacturers have made it so that even smartphones can do this after taking a picture, but this function works on mobile devices is not always correct. In this case, help comes to applications for computers that cope with the task very well. We will tell you about one such program today.

Focus was originally developed by the creators of the popular audio player Vox – Coppertino, but in the end they decided to entrust their offspring to developers who made a name for photo processing applications – MacPhun. It turned out a very interesting product, which masterfully copes with blurring of the background in photos.

If you have ever used the applications from this developer, the Focus interface will not surprise you: the central field is given to photos, to the right – the settings panel, at the top – buttons that switch the mode of operation.

The Crop button allows you to crop the photo, if necessary, by cutting its parts and turning. Then follow the buttons that switch the defocus modes. The main modes are five: portrait, nature, architecture, macro and tilt-shift. In addition, there is an arbitrary blur mode. You select the part of the image that you want to emphasize, the rest of the Focus gently blurs, intensifying this very blurring as you move away from the center.

At the output we get a snapshot, where the main focus is on the object that is needed. Depending on the image, you can select a circular defocus or a linear defocus.

When the “Portrait” mode is turned on, the program will try to determine the person’s face in the photo and place it in the “focus”, and the “Share” button will simplify the publication of results in social networks or sending someone.

Also Focus helps out in those cases when you want to eliminate not the most beautiful objects in the photo with the help of blurring.

In the right panel there are some options: Vignette (allows to add darkening at the edges), Vividness (adds a picture of expressiveness of colors) and others.

The application is useful to anyone who wants to quickly and simply focus on specific objects of their photos. You can download it below, including for free, and for promotional code APPLEINSIDER 10% discount!
