With iOS 11, you no longer need to download third-party applications that specialize in scanning your photos on your iPhone.

Users of iPhones or iPads can now scan documents using the default Notes app on iOS 11.

To scan and save documents on your iPhone phone, follow these instructions:

Turn on the notes app on your phone
Create a new note, or open a previously stored note
Click the “plus” sign in the bottom bar
Click on “Scan Documents”
You will now see the camera screen, place the document in front of the phone camera, drag the corners to set the document, and you will notice that the page is automatically contained within the frame without having to press the capture button.
If you want to switch to Manual Scan button, press “Auto” from the top of the screen and it will be converted to manual mode, or you can do this by pressing one of the volume buttons.
When you finish scanning the page, you can add additional copies to the same document or save it by clicking Save.
You will then be taken to the same note with an image of the scanned document so that you can take additional notes about the document if you want, and after done press “Done” from the top bar to save the note.
Notes on iOS 11 do not support OCR when scanning documents, so you may need a more robust application to do this if you need this feature.
