There was a time when people messaged one another on their phones using SMS. Later on, after smartphones were introduced. Smartphones have really changed the way we live our lives. Nowadays, with all the cool apps in the Google Play Store, there’s an app for everything.   WhatsApp is the most popular app for communication. Even you can use best emoji keyboards into your whatsapp application. Not only has it revolutionized the way people communicate with one another but it also made life a lot easier.

WhatsApp has recently introduced some very cool features such as sending document files in various formats like .pdf, .txt, and .doc. The other file formats, however, weren’t supported. In this article, I’ll show you how you can send a folder and a file with any extension to your friends using Whatsapp.

How to Send a Folder on WhatsApp

This method requires you to have an advanced file manager or file explorer on your phone.

First, make sure that you know where you have your raw folder that you wish to send. Open the file explorer you wish to use. I prefer ES Explorer as it has an easy-to-use interface and is advanced.

Launch ES Explorer and locate the folder you wish to send. Open the folder and select those parts you would like to send. You can also select all parts of the folder if you wish to send the entire folder.

Click on the “Options” button and select “Compress”.

After your folder is successfully compressed, you now need to change the extension. Now, note that you cannot send .zip formats on WhatsApp, so you need to convert it to .doc. Changing from .zip to .doc lets you send files across WhatsApp without any trouble. However, make sure that you also let the receiver know that they have to change the extension back to .zip to decompress.

The Pros and the Cons

The biggest advantage of this method is that you get to save time. Time is precious, right? The con, however, is that you have to compress every folder that is of a different format other than the ones allowed to be sent via WhatsApp. The receiver also had to decompress the folder that you send. This might seem quite a bit of a hassle but it’s very useful.

Once the receiver receives the folder, all they have to do is change the extension from .doc to .zip and then decompress. Nowadays, many smartphones come with this feature. So, they might not need any third-party apps to decompress.

Final Thoughts

Many WhatsApp users have had trouble with the file limits. The file size is limited to 25mb, If you’d like to send files that are bigger than this, then you might have to download an unofficial version of WhatsApp, i.e., GbWhatsApp. The method is quite easy if you follow it properly. This is the best way for you to share any files that are in various formats like .zip, .exe, .rar and so on. You can also send APK files. Do let us know in the comments on how you share files on WhatsApp and whether this method has helped you.
