HP announces new Chromebook for education

HP has a new Chromebook aankondigd intended for education. It is an Education Edition of the HP Chromebook 11 G4, which is equipped with rubber edges to better withstand shocks and falls.

HP claims that the Chromebook can withstand falls up to 70cm. The G4 EE is 20mm thick and weighs 1.5kg. Furthermore, the laptop is provided with a pivot that rotates 180 degrees, with which the Chromebook can be completely flattened. HP also said in the G4 EE to use the Chromebook keyboard that protects against spills.

The G4 EE is equipped with an Intel Celeron N2840 with Intel HD Graphics. Furthermore, the Chromebook has 4GB ram and he has 16 or 32GB of internal storage space, depending on the model. The screen has a diagonal of 11.6 “and a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. For an additional charge, there is the option for an IPS panel. It is also possible to equip the Chromebook with 3g and 4g.

Furthermore, the G4 EE has a USB 2.0, one USB 3.0 and one HDMI port. The battery life of the Chromebook is 9.5 hours. The application Chrome Management Console allows teachers and administrators several Chromebooks while keeping according to HP.

The Chromebook is only available through the corporate and educational markets. Prices start at 230 euros plus VAT. The G4 EE will be available from end of February.
