HP Introduces hpc system with water cooling
The U.S. company HP has announced its first series of supercomputers in Las Vegas. The Apollo series to make accessible hpc-performance businesses; traditionally, it is mainly research using supercomputers.
The first supercomputers from the factories of HP have been delivered for testing at Intel and as a research platform at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Intel uses the Apollo 6000 series to simulate its processor designs while Apollo 8000 system acts at NREL. The Apollo 6000 series offers 160 blade servers per rack, while there are 144 units in the Apollo 8000 series. Nevertheless, the Apollo 8000 Series the most powerful – and most expensive – of the two.
According to HP Apollo 8000 series gets a price of several million dollars, which is taken thousands petaflops. Computing at home The Apollo 6000 series, with 80 server modules on board, would “only” cost about $ 150,000.

The Apollo 6000 is constructed of high-5U trays containing up to ten trays or blades. Each tray includes two nodes, wherein each tray is built up from a HP ProLiant XL220a Gen8 v2 Server. Each node in the tray is made up of a single Xeon E3 v3-1200 processor with four cores to 3.7 GHz and a maximum of 32 GB memory. The store consists of two 2.5 “drives. The power supply is controlled by a separate U-1.5 unit with up to six-2650W-2400W, or power supplies.
The Apollo 8000 series is a system that is cooled with water and with 144 nodes per rack is configured. The servers are built with two pieces in a tray and consist of HP ProLiant XL730f servers with two processors per node. Each server has up to 256GB of memory, a 480GB SSD, and InfiniBand and Gigabit interconnects. The Xeons from E5-2600 v2 series, with maximum clock speeds up to 3GHz and ten cores.

The water cooling consists of a vacuum system where the servers have a fully enclosed heat pipe system so hotswaps be possible without risk of water damage. The cooling water can be used to warm up with the residual heat in the building; at NREL it can also be used in order to keep free of ice. the pavement in the winter The cooling would be pieces efficient than traditional air cooling by air conditioning. The Apollo series is available immediately.Viewing:-469
