HP is divided into two companies – officially




Computer giant Hewlett-Packard has confirmed its intention to split the company into two parts. The first company, HP Inc, focus on personal computers and printing, and will be engaged in 3D-printing. The second, which will be called Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, will cover the corporate segment, software, infrastructure, services, and finances. After the news the company’s shares rose more than 8 percent.

Meg Whitman will lead the corporate business and will become chairman of the company for the production of computers and printers. Chief Financial Officer Kathy Leszhak continue to manage the HP Enterprise, which will be chaired by Patricia Russo. Executive Director of HP Inc will be Dion Ueysler wrote Re / code.

It should be noted that Hewlett-Packard has long planned to enter the market of three-dimensional printing. In the past, the company has stated that this market is more focused on the corporate segment .

In a press release, HP said that over the past three years the company has strengthened its core business and is prepared to aggressively take advantage of the rapidly changing market. The decision to divide underlines the company’s commitment to its anti-crisis plan. Each newly created company will be freedom, financial independence and flexibility in decision-making, which together will quickly adapt to a constantly changing environment, meeting the needs of both consumers and investors.

The transformation process will be completed by the end of next year.

HP also plans to develop a line of wearable electronics. Earlier it was reported that in the near future the company plans to release a smart watch premium.
