HTC: Fri headset Vive important than smartphones

HTC sees Fri glasses Vive important than smartphones. The director of the company says in an interview that the VR goggles must be the rescue for the ailing smartphone maker, which make recent years was with declining sales and revenues.

HTC sees virtual reality as a major growth market in the coming years and Director Cher Wang said in an interview with British newspaper The Telegraph that the surgery, education, science and shop can change. Therefore, the VR glasses will be more important than smart phones. “Yes, smartphones are important, but it is more important to create a natural extension to connected devices like wearables and virtual reality.”

HTC the VR headset are important, showed the naming at the announcement. The manufacturer cited the glasses as well next Vive Re Vive. The verb “revive” means “revive.” HTC struggling for several years with declining sales and revenues, although it on supplies for years no longer disclose exact figures.

The smartphone maker brings in collaboration with game company Valve Vive in April, while this month the first wearables market brings in collaboration with sports brand Under Armour. HTC last year released a comprehensive range of high-end smartphones, including the M9, M9 +, E9, E9 + M9 + Supreme Camera, Butterfly 3 and A9.

Wang also announced that HTC from February 29 accepts pre-orders for the Vive. That’s one week after telecom exhibition Mobile World Congress, the exchange on which the manufacturer last year Vive showed it first. The price of the Vive is not yet known. Tweakers placed this weekend, a comparison of the Vive and the Oculus Rift which stood at Consumer Electronics Show CES. The Rift went last week in advance and cost 699 euro in the Benelux.
