HTC will end this year with two high-end smartphones




HTC has announced that it comes in the autumn with two different high-end smartphones. The company describes one as ‘fashionable’ and ‘trendy’, while the other a classic version “will be from a current device.

These devices come in the period between early October and December, as can be inferred from the discussion of the quarterly figures that HTC has put online Thursday. CEO Chialin Chang says in that one of the reasons why the One M9 sells moderately, is that he is not in accordance with customers ‘fashionable’ enough.

With a ‘classic’ device HTC probably indicates a variant of the One One M8 or M9, while the ‘trendy’ unit is likely to have a new design. Both devices will be ‘high end’, but not as expensive as the One M9, said the CEO. Chang went on to say that HTC handsets to its portfolio involves thinning. It brought the One M9, M9 Plus, E9, E9 Plus and ME in his One-line in the first half for five expensive phones.

HTC posted at the spring sales of converted around 950 million euros, while the loss averaged around 230 million euros. The manufacturer wants to cut costs to counter the losses.
