HTC’s monthly revenue drops by 68 percent

HTC’s sales for the month of June were 68 percent lower than the same month last year. This is the sharpest drop in turnover in two years. The numbers are a sign that the arrival of the U12 + smartphone does not improve the financial position yet.

HTC converted 2.2 billion Taiwan dollars in June, equivalent to 60 million euros. That was 2.4 billion in May and 6.9 billion Taiwan dollars in June last year. HTC does not explain its monthly figures, so it is not known how the different parts of the company perform.

The figures show that HTC has a hard time on the smartphone market and the U12 + does not turn the tide yet. Sales of the U12 + started mid-June. July will be the first full month in which the device was sold. HTC has been dealing with declining revenue and disappointing smartphone sales for years. Turnover for the whole of 2018 has so far been 50 percent behind that of 2017. At the beginning of July, HTC announced that it would have to fire 1500 of its approximately 6500 employees.

Tweakers published a review of the U12 + on Monday.
