During the announcement of the P9-smartphone on the Sina Technology News conference in China Huawei has shown a virtual reality headset. Yu Chengdong, president of the consumer division of Huawei, made the announcement.

Much is still unknown about the VR headset, except that the glasses would work exclusively with the P9. The product is very similar to the Samsung Gear VR, which also has a phone must be stopped to enjoy virtual reality images, writes TechRadar.

Whether and when the headset is available, is not clear. Nor is therefore unknown whether Huawei plans to release the device outside China.

The P9 features a full-HD screen, so that the sharpness of the image will be less than that of a Samsung Gear VR, because the Samsung Note 4 has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The P9 has a full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
