Huawei develops technology for smartphone battery ten times faster recharging




Huawei comes with a quick charger technology for lithium-ion batteries of smartphones. According to the Chinese company there may be with an adjustment of the anode to ten times the battery to be charged more quickly than has hitherto been possible with conventional models.

The technology was developed by a laboratory which is affiliated with Huawei and has been extensively tested in recent times, it allows the Chinese manufacturer on its community website. During the so-called Battery Symposium developed battery charging technology was presented in Japan, but it is not yet clear if it can be used commercially. According to Huawei is working with industry partners to develop the technology.

In a video you can see how quickly a 3000mAh smartphone battery can be recharged using the new technology. In five minutes the battery is charged almost half full through a specially developed charger. This is considerably quicker than has hitherto been possible with conventional batteries and chargers: Huawei can according to the new battery, the charging of mobile phones make up ten times faster than is usual up to now.

The new battery with so-called hetero atoms, atoms other than carbon or hydrogen which are located in a molecular ring structure. These are connected to the graphite molecules in the anode of the battery, in order to be able to ‘catch’ with higher efficiency as lithium ions. This speeds up the charge, but has no negative effect on battery life and energy density, argues the author. However, many details are still missing, because Huawei without detailed explanation of the mechanism of action has been put online. Also lack precise figures achieved load speeds and the life of the new batteries.

Incidentally, Huawei expects to deploy the new technology is not just for smartphones. Other devices like wearables and the batteries of electric cars could benefit from the new technology.
