Huawei signs MoU with German Duisburg to build smart city




Duisburg signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei to develop smart cities . The MoU was signed by Duisburg Mayor Soren Link and Wang Yongjang, Chief Financial Officer of Huawei Enterprise Group . With this announcement of intent, both partners will begin to make the city of Duisburg an innovative and digital city as a model in Western Europe .

The MOU sets out a framework for further discussion in which partners are committed to implementing specific projects of agreed topics .

Huawei has announced plans to build a joint innovation center in Duisburg, where the city will benefit directly from the innovations developed at the center . Plans include expanding WLAN In the city to include the zoo and public transport . In the field of education, the focus will be on ” smart line ” where it will be connected to Wi-Fi and wideband .

Other plans discuss smart street lamps, supply networks, traffic management and e-government solutions based on cloud computing that facilitate public services for citizens . In addition, Huawei will provide its expertise and solutions in the 5G technology and wireless broadband networks, required for self-driving, intelligent logistics and industry 4.0.
