Huawei works on foldable smartphone with 5g support

Huawei has indicated that it wants to bring a smartphone to the market that can be folded, and can also be used with 5g networks. Huawei had already hinted earlier that they wanted to release a foldable smartphone.

This made Richard Yu, who is at the helm at Huawei as the CEO, known in an interview with various media, including Digital Trends. He stated that Huawei wants to provide a foldable smartphone with the possibility to lay 5g connections, but further details were not disclosed. Yu only wanted to say about the release that there is no commercial product on the shelf, so the development will probably take some time.

Huawei had already mentioned before that it works on a foldable smartphone. Then it seemed that the device may already be released next year. Yu did not want to confirm that this time. A test model has already been made with two screens, but the details are also missing.

Recently , the Chinese manufacturer announced its new top device Mate 20 Pro. The smartphone will come on the market next month and will cost almost 1000 euros. The Mate 20 Pro has a fingerprint scanner in the screen and 3d face recognition with infrared. There is also a cheaper smartphone that does not have these functions, called Mate 20. However, the two devices share the Kirin 980-soc.
