IBM Belgium reaches agreement with staff on redundancies 228 people




IBM Belgium have reached the management agreement with trade unions and the works council about the layoff as announced in March this year. Eventually lose 228 employees their jobs at the technology giant.

The employees would ‘almost unanimous’ have accepted the proposed plan, so proposes the spokesman of the socialist trade union FGTB, Jan Meeuwens against Belga. An IBM spokesman confirmed that agreement has been reached with the unions and staff. Partly employees will leave the company voluntarily. For them, IBM among others established a retirement plan.

In March, IBM was still talking about the removal of 233 jobs as part of the “rearranging the talent pool; that there have been so 228. IBM Belgium has currently 1498 employees. According Datanews IBM in Belgium for years to lose weight, but rather would not have gone to major redundancies. The site received late March an open letter to employees of IBM Belgium, in which they complained about the working conditions.
