Ikea on Steam released an app that is designed to see kitchens with HTC Vive headset in virtual reality. The software was developed by the French company Allegorithmic and uses Unreal Engine 4.

The virtual Ikea experience is free to download on Steam and includes three kitchen setups. It is possible to change the color of the cabinets and the kitchen can be viewed from different perspectives. For example, from the viewpoint of a child of a meter or from the purview of an adult length of two meters.

To view virtual kitchens is great hardware. According Ikea are the minimum system requirements Intel Core i7-4790K with 16GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 980 or similar GPU. Also, a headset-HTC Vive necessary with the corresponding controllers.

It is according to Ikea for a test and the expectation is that users have been bored in the virtual kitchen after about five minutes. The test is supported until August 2016. The purpose of the Swedish company is to collect feedback to perhaps do more with Sun in the future.
