Imagination Technologies has introduced a new generation of graphics for iPhone 6s and iPad Air 3




The developer of graphics solutions for iPhone and iPad – the company Imagination Technologies – has announced a new high-performance graphics processor, which is 512 ALU-cores. Modules PowerVR Series7, according to the company, have unmatched power and are designed for today’s mobile processors with integrated graphics.


At the heart of a new family of graphics products Imagination Technologies is a proprietary micro-Rogue. New items include a line Series7XE and Series7XT. Last, the top-end series, the performance by 60% higher than the processors Series6, having richer functionality at the same or less power. Graphics processor PowerVR GX6650, known to be used in the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2.

Series7XT promises a significant increase in performance and functionality, and the top model is represented by 512 cores. These graphics solutions can implement HDR-rendering and realistic 4K-texturing in mobile applications. These GPU architecture is not much difference as compared with the products Series6, but they are more effective and have a better performance. Also, there is support for tessellation, virtualization plus optional DirectX 11 and HPC (High Performance Computing).


At the beginning of the year on the site Imagination Technologies was reported that Apple has extended the license agreement for the use of its development in the field of graphics processors. In other words, a top 512-core PowerVR very likely will be used in “apple” gadget.
