In Germany, a ban on the sale of iPhone

has come into force
Qualcomm, after a series of lawsuits with Apple, still managed to achieve a ban on iPhone sales in Germany. It is worth noting that we are talking only about some models, namely iPhone 7/7 Plus and iPhone 8/8 Plus. The court decision has already entered into force – however, for this, Qualcomm had to make a security payment in the amount of 1.34 billion euros.

At the time of this writing, Apple has already withdrawn from sales of the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus , iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in Germany. Smartphones can no longer be purchased in the official online store or in the Apple Store. By the way, the court ruling also applies to third-party retail chains.

At the moment, Apple offers consumers the choice of only three devices – iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. All other smartphones of the company were either withdrawn from sales as outdated, or came under a corresponding ban.

Recall that the judicial confrontation between the companies lasts from 2017. According to representatives of Qualcomm, Apple grossly violated the agreement, using the iPhone a few patented technologies in the field of cellular communication. In addition, according to the chip maker, Apple pays far less deductions for the use of intellectual property than was required by the contract.

However, Apple can still appeal the decision of the court. The company has already filed an appeal, and in the event that a court decision can still be challenged, Qualcomm will incur losses in the amount of 1.34 billion euros, which it used as a security deposit.
