In iOS 8 GM disappeared music recognition feature using Shazam
In June, the conference WWDC Apple introduced a new, eighth version of iOS for iPhone and iPad. The company left the design iOS 8 intact, with an emphasis on the possibilities of the mobile platform. One of the new features announced by Apple from the scene was supposed to be a personal assistant Siri integration with the service Shazam.
As planned by Apple, Siri must recognize the song is playing through a partnership with the popular music service. Owners of the iPhone and iPad with the new operating system would provide an opportunity to identify the name and artist of the composition, simply by substituting the unit at the speaker with playing music.
However, as it turned out, in iOS 8 GM support Shazam disappeared from the list of available. Sources familiar with the process of development, said that Apple has decided to temporarily abandon the technology because of the need to improve communication with the service. According to some, bad working mechanism for determining the compositions: Siri continued to listen to the sounds even after the request and could initiate the recognition without the user’s knowledge.
For these reasons, the final version of iOS 8, probably will not be native support for Shazam. However, Apple’s not abandoned this idea and plan to integrate technology in one of the updates.
