Several providers would have blocked access to 32 sites in India. Among other Pastebin, GitHub and Dailymotion are among the affected sites. The large-scale blockade is reportedly at the urging of the GOI.

The Indian government, according to Indian i nternetgebruikers certainly block 32 websites. The authenticity of the image that is circulating on the Internet, however, has not been confirmed. Vodafone is one according to the Times of India to the providers that create a blockage. On the other hand, the blocked sites can still be visited via other networks, according to the newspaper. The Times of India, for example, has no problems on the 3G network of Airtel.

The blockade would be in charge of the so-called Department of Telecommunications, which is part of the Indian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Pastebin posted on December 19, a tweet in which all mention of the blockade was made. A week later, the message that the service is still blocked in India. Pastebin advised supporters to use proxy services.

An official reason for the blockade is not given yet. Twitter, however, reported that the websites contain content that ‘against India would be directed. Only when the content has been removed and worked on a research sites are reportedly again available made.
