ING brings Android app for contactless payments via NFC out

ING Netherlands has released its Mobile Payment App for Android. The app works with smartphones running Android 4.4 or higher and have an NFC chip. Using the app is the first six months free and then costs 50 cents per month.

ING Mobile payments Earlier this year ING has already announced that contactless payment with NFC smartphones would be possible. According to the bank in recent months thousands of customers tested the beta version of the app, version 1.0.0.0 is now available in the Google Play Store. ING claims that 65 percent of Android smartphones in the Netherlands is suitable for mobile payment. To use the app is a smartphone with an NFC chip and Kitkat Android 4.4 or newer.

With the ING Mobile Payment App can be performed contactless payments, as with an NFC debit card. Up to a maximum of 25 euros which could possibly without PIN. At higher amounts, which requires a PIN to be entered into the app. Contactless payments with the app is available at the same locations where they can with an NFC card. That’s according to ING currently has more than 100,000 locations.

All users can use the Mobile Payment App for six months without charge. Then use the app costs 50 cents per month per account activated. For students, the app is free. Currently the app is only available to Dutch customers. Or an app also occurs Belgian ING account holders is not yet known.
