In technical documents on the Intel website, a Coffee Lake cpu is mentioned with eight cores. There have been rumors for a long time about the arrival of an octacore, which, together with the Z390 chipset, would come out in the second half of this year.

Three titles of documents contain the words Coffee Lake S 8 + 2, noted a Reddit user . The numbers refer to the number of cpu cores, followed by the number of gpu cores. For example, Intel uses 6 + 2 for existing hexacores with igpu.

At the time of writing, Intel removed the references to the octacore processor from its website, but by looking for the name of the documents on Google , you can still see that they have actually been online.

Because Intel speaks about a Coffee Lake S-cpu, it is a desktop processor that fits in the lga1151 socket. Current models in the same series currently have up to six cores. The fact that there is an octacore has already been shown in an online roadmap .

Intel is likely to announce the Coffee Lake S processor with eight cores in combination with the Z390 chipset. Since the end of last year there are already indications that Intel comes with that chipset, positioned above the current Z370 variant. When Intel plans to officially announce the octacore for desktops, it is not yet known.
