Intel introduces its first gigabit LTE modem

Intel announced the Intel XMM 7560, an LTE modem that can handle unlike the Intel modem iPhone 7 gigabit speeds and works with CDMA networks. The modem must be on the market this year.

With the advent of the XMM 7560 Intel makes the move to LTE Cat 16 for gigabit speeds. The greatest advantage with respect to the XMM 7360, Intel’s modem which is 7-models in a part of the iPhone, which is now also support for CDMA is present. For example, in the US Verizon uses this network, which Apple was forced to provide iPhones for this provider a Qualcomm modem. The Intel modems would otherwise perform less than the Qualcomm variants according to research.

Furthermore, Intel produces the XMM 7560 modem on its 14nm process, which the modem to make a lot more efficient than those produced on 28nm XMM 7360. Furthermore, Intel has released the interim XMM 7480, but this modem offered marginal improvements over 7360 .

The XMM 7560 Intel will compete with the Snapdragon X16 LTE and Tuesday introduced X20 LTE Qualcomm. Or to find the XMM 7560 will be in a future iPhone, however, is not known. In the first half of this year, Intel will send the first samples to manufacturers. Then have to start the mass production ‘soon’, according to the manufacturer.
