Intel permanently stops IPTV plans after sale Intel Media

Intel does not come with its own IPTV platform and set-top box. The company announced the release of its IPTV platform to last year, but the chip maker, the division that worked was sold to the U.S. carrier Verizon.

Also in the first quarter of this year, the sale of Intel Media at Verizon have been finalized. The provider will “substantially all” about 350 staff and further obtains everything related to Intel OnCue Cloud TV platform.

Last year, Intel announced to have big plans for hardware and services for IPTV rollout but struggled with problems, some of which reportedly making had with transverse content providers. More on expanding its computing products Intel Media was the last business that is still occupied with TV. In 2011, the company has been largely withdrew back from this market
