Intel presents custom Haswell processor for Amazon
Intel has created a custom version of Haswell processor for Amazon. The store uses the processor for its EC2 web service. It goes to a notice: Amazon has the processor is not in use.
The processor for Amazon is based on an Intel Xeon E5-2666 v3 running at 2,9GHz and Turbo Boost to 3.5GHz, writes the online store. This processor is not yet to be found in Intel’s processor database . The processor must especially heavier web services and online games from the feet to C4 instances, thinks Amazon. In the highest configuration, there are 36 virtual CPUs available with 60GB of ram and a throughput of 10Gbit / s.
The processor is based on Intel’s Haswell architecture and processor maker that allows manufacturing at 22nm. Intel makes more customized processors for existing customers: this year alone would thirty major customers get customized Intel processors.
