Intel will work with eyeglass company to develop smart glasses

Intel is working with the eyewear company Luxottica to develop different types of smart glasses. The first product resulting from the collaboration between the companies is in 2015, say the companies.

Intel The goal of the collaboration is to create products that ‘meaningful and desirable’ are, as in the announcement reported. However, it is unclear what the companies mean exactly with that.

It is not the first collaboration of the eyeglass business smart glasses. Luxottica has previously partnered with Google announced . The announcement follows the day after the rumor that Google new Glass glasses might want to equip with Intel chips. It is unknown whether this is a separate collaboration or that the three companies jointly develop smart glasses.

The current edition of Google Glass Explorer contains an ARM SOC of Texas Instruments. It is unclear to what Intel chips it goes, but the Quark would be the most likely option. X86 soc Intel has designed for internet-of-things-applications.
