Internet Archive launches new console emulators Console Living Room

The Internet Archive has its historical software collection with a number of emulators that emulate five classic consoles. The game titles from the seventies and eighties to play in the browser.

The Internet Archive was already in October with a number of games and software titles based on a javascript emulator. For this purpose Jsmess use a javascript-implementation of the open source Mess emulator that runs in any modern browser. Besides a number of games for the ZX Spectrum and Apple II home computers and some Atari 2600 games also some classic software packages were made available in the so-called Historical Collection Software section.

Claim to have the number of emulated game titles from the seventies and eighties quite the archivists of the Internet Archive enhanced with the opening of the new Console Living Room. There are five games available for consoles, the Atari 2600, the Atari 7800 ProSystem, the ColecoVision, the Magnavox Odyssey ² and Astrocade.

The largest selection of emulated console classics is found on the Atari 2600, but other systems are dozens of game titles available. Many titles also contain a description, all the metadata of some games will be added in the coming days by volunteers so promises the Internet Archive.
