IPod days are numbered. Thank you iPhone

Resource CNN Money has published a rather interesting chart that illustrates the rich history of the iPod duration of nine years. It’s hard to believe, but there was a time when sales of the iPod accounted for over 48 percent of the income “apple” of the company (Q1 2007). Now we can say that their life cycle is coming to an end. In quarterly reports dominated iTunes, iPhone, iPad, Mac and accessories. IPod sales are in the penultimate place, ahead of only accessories.

Players iPod Classic, Nano and Shuffle not too long held the crown. Already in 2008 they pushed into third place model iPod Touch and iPhone smartphones . Later still pushed below their iPad tablet PCs and Mac. This graph shows how Apple is in a certain period of time destroying its own source of income. Logically, currently in Cupertino are working on a product that will “eat” smart phones iPhone.

Bad Apple’s strategy will not name. Recall that by the end of fiscal year 2012 , she earned more than Microsoft, eBay, Google, Yahoo!, Facebook and Amazon combined.

The last entry on the chart (iPod sold 6.2 million in the second fiscal quarter of 2013) is calculated as the arithmetic mean. Projections for the calculations were provided by a variety of leading analysts (6.22 million), as well as amateurs (6.15 million). Apple will talk about the results of the second fiscal quarter of this year, already 23 April, and then find out whose predictions were closer to the truth.
