In order to enrich the Arabic content in the World Encyclopedia Wikipedia , the Information Technology Authority announced the extension of the period of participation in the second edition of the Wikimedia Competition , which was launched at the Muscat International Book Fair in early March, In April.
The idea of the competition is to write at least 3 articles in Arabic and publish them on the website of the Free Encyclopedia Wikipedia, and then send the links of these articles to the e-mail of the Commission , so that the posts are evaluated by a specialized committee outside the body.
The focus of the Information Technology Authority on the enrichment of Arabic content on Wikipedia, the prominent position occupied by other international encyclopedias, and as an open source platform accessible to various age groups and scientific users online, where the free encyclopedia Wikipedia contains more than 43 million written articles written more From 295 languages, and visits more than 430 million users per month. The number of new articles written in Arabic in the free encyclopedia Wikipedia # until February last year was more than 297 articles daily, with a growth of 26%.
The terms of participation in the competition should not be less than 300 words, and the article should be written in standard Arabic, and the subject should not be related to political, tribal or ideological matters. The participant can also write in the fields of culture, arts, literature, technology, science, history, geography, industry, trade, agriculture, tourism, education, economics, transport, communications, mining and any other areas not mentioned.
