Kaspersky: DDoS attacks lead to the abuse of corporate reputation

He said 39% of respondents to the customer loss and suffering because of the damage to the reputation of the company to more consequences feared they occur because of malicious DDoS attacks, what is more important than the costs incurred by the company in repelling the attacks or treatment effects after the fact (according to the opinion 28 % of respondents), and more important than the losses in revenue and business because of the stoppage as a result of malicious DDoS attacks (in the opinion of 26% of respondents).

The survey also demonstrated that 57% of respondents have lost their own business data or their companies did not have access to key business information as a result of malicious DDoS attacks, and 42% reported that the attacks have affected their ability to exercise commercial activities.

The assessment also revealed a wide-ranging consequences for this type of electronic threats at different levels of the business. For example, 33% of the companies that participated in the research said that the attacks and malicious DDoS may have hurt its own credit rating and reported 35% of companies that their own insurance premiums have increased as a result.

He says Yevgeny Vigeoffski, head of Kaspersky solutions for protection from DDoS attacks in Kaspersky Lab: “malicious DDoS attacks and one of the most common forms of cybercrime are considered common in the world today.”

Vigeoffski pointed out that attackers choose often timing their attack carefully in order to maximize the financial damage, as research suggests that the impact of these attacks far beyond the visible form, and extends to damage the company’s reputation and credibility with its customers, and this is what matters most companies.
