Online communication and collaboration is an essential aspect of social life and business in Saudi Arabia. Cyberspace has become a key factor in enabling the kingdom to thrive, which is vital and in keeping with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.

As one of the most technologically advanced countries in the region, Saudi Arabia is one of the most vital areas targeted in cyber attacks. A recent study by Kaspersky, named Kaspersky IT Security 2017, shows that about 60 percent of enterprises in Saudi Arabia have been targeted by virus and malware attacks over the past 12 months. While 41% of those surveyed agree on the importance of development to deal specifically with the threats that their organizations face.

The targeted attacks have always required full awareness and knowledge by institutions in the Kingdom, where 21% of institutions have been exposed in the last 12 months. While 41% of those surveyed believe their institutions need better tools to detect “persistent threats” and deal with targeted attacks.

“Our objectives as an e-security hub in the Kingdom are focused on improving the readiness of e-security and the capabilities of the government sector, including the vital national infrastructure, as well as the development of national capabilities in terms of e-security,” said Dr. Abad Al Abbad, Executive Director of Strategic Development and Communication at the E-Security Center. . This workshop, in cooperation with Kaspersky Lab, enables IT professionals and public and private sector organizations to learn about the most important solutions and results in this field.
