Keyboard with symbol will appear in the Russian ruble in 2015




In early 2015, Russia will be the first keyboard applied with the symbol rate. According to the company KraftWay, in the first batches of keyboards, which will bring to our country in the next year, this will already be a symbol – to a number key “8”.


On the virtual keyboard, the iPhone and iPad Introduction of a Russian character is already present . Of Lenovo and HP, however, do not hurry to change something. Microsoft and Logitech is also not going to make changes to the characters on the keys.

Dollar sign will appear on the virtual keyboard, major Russian internet portals. In particular, representatives of “Yandex” reported that in the near future to add this character.

In July 2014 the first deputy chairman of the Bank of Russia Georgy Luntovsky sent a letter to Sergey Golovin, Chairman of the Technical Committee TC 22 “Information technology”, in which he asked the Committee to organize the work necessary for the implementation of the sign of the Russian ruble in various operating systems, reminiscent of “Izvestia” .

In September Golovin sent letters to Apple and Microsoft – he said that to enter a character on the keyboard of the ruble is preferable to use a combination of two keys: Right Alt and Cyrillic P or right Alt key and the character “8”. As a result, Microsoft has decided to use to sign the Russian currency right Alt and “8”, and Apple – right Alt and Cyrillic R.


In December 2013 the Central Bank formally adopted the crossed out the letter “P” as a graphic symbol of the ruble. At the same time the head of the Central Bank Nabiullina told about plans to issue ruble coin with a new sign in the next year. It is planned that the new symbol will be printed on the banknotes.
