Kimishima: Nintendo Switch will not replace the 3DS




Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima stated in an interview with Bloomberg that he does not plan to stop production of the 3DS when the switch comes on the market. He can also “do not deny that will support the switch in the future virtual reality.

In the interview tells Kimishima that Nintendo wanted to do more than just create a successor to the 3DS and Wii. Because there are many games to come out, the 3DS is growing as a product still he says. He doubts that the switch would cannibalize sales of the 3DS, but it can continue to grow in its own way.

When asked what his view is on virtual reality, Kimishima replied that Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind games like Mario and Zelda, has shown several times interest. The director says he is also interested himself in virtual reality, as new ways to play offers. According Kimishima it is theoretically possible to add VR capabilities to the Switch.

Last week announced Nintendo new console, the Switch. The console has a built-in screen and a battery, so it can be disconnected from the television and can serve as handheld console. Or Nintendo Wii will be replaced with the console is not yet known.
