Koreans win international robot contest




A group of Korean scientists has won the robot competition which is organized by Darpa, the research branch of the US military. During the match had to open all kinds of tasks are carried out on the trail, such as climbing stairs and doors.

The match took place on Friday and Saturday in Pomona, in the US state of California. Finally appeared the robot Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea, the series tasks the fastest and best run. Their robot, called Hubo, finally had nearly three quarters required to execute commands on the trail.

In total there are 23 robots participate in the finals of the DARPA Robotics Challenge, of which there were many from American, Japanese and German teams. The majority of these robots walking on two ‘legs’. According to Darpa, the contest is created to demonstrate how robots can help in dangerous situations, such as natural disasters. During the match, it was found that not all the robots were able to perform the series of tasks. Many robots fell to or performed tasks not look good.

The Korean Hubo robot has a human-like appearance and is 1.80 meters tall and 80kg heavy. Eventually the Korean winners go home with a prize of $ 2 million, representing about 1.8 million.
