KPN Digitenne price increase is caused by decrease subscribers




KPN Digitenne subscribers to given an explanation for the price increase announced by the television service EUR 12.50 per month to 14 per month. According to KPN, this is because more and more customers switch to other digital television platforms.

From June 28 KPN raises the price of a subscription to Digitenne 14 euros. According to KPN increase the cost per user so that a price increase is necessary because more and more customers switch to other ways to watch digital television. Thus, many customers switched to KPN’s All-in-1 packages that are available via VDSL and fiber.

According to Telecompaper, the number of subscribers of Digitenne, which offers 29 channels but no HD channels, many years back, while KPN gradually boosted the price. So Digitenne had 885,000 customers in 2010, while in the first quarter of this year had shrunk to 478,000.

At the end of 2017, the license runs for KPN’s DVB-T license off. It is still unclear whether the telco after that time Digitenne in the air will keep. Possibly the frequencies by the government from 2020 released for mobile applications. What is known is that KPN is working on Play , an IPTV platform that works on Internet connections from other providers.
