KPN sells Base Telenet




KPN has its Belgian mobile subsidiary Base sold to cable operator Telenet. The acquisition is an amount of 1.325 billion euros. Telenet’s takeover own mobile network in hands.

KPN has accepted the offer of Telenet Base reports Telenet. According to KPN, it is a cash amount of 1.325 billion euros. Telenet wants to ensure the acquisition claims to be the best mobile connection: “With its own mobile network we are stronger to be able to accomplish that.”

The company has approximately one million customers with mobile subscriptions but Telenet did not have a network yet. The company used the Mobistar network. Telenet is part of the Liberty Global group, which also owns Ziggo.

KPN says now to fully focus on its strategy as a service provider in the Netherlands. There were already rumors that KPN longer wanted to sell its Belgian subsidiary to Telenet. In early March appeared all messages that KPN Base was put on display. Base has 3.3 million customers in Belgium. Based on the revenue from mobile services market share stood at 21 percent in 2014.
