KPN will provide privacy-oriented Black Phone from January ‘

KPN will bring the much-discussed Black Phone in January to the Netherlands, reports nrc.next. The provider has anticipated a few months ago indicated the release at the end of 2014, but the release is apparently postponed.

A KPN employee is the device for the carrier to test, so writes NRC Next. The paper indicates that the telecom company in January will start offering the device targeted to privacy. The selling price is still unknown.

The arrival of the Black Phone has previously announced by KPN. In June, KPN, however the release of the Android device postponed . The provider said to have more time to need to check whether the smartphone can live up to its privacy promises. This is apparently the case, because KPN is reportedly in January with the secure unit.

The smartphone runs on Priv Atos, a fork of Android 4.4. The system provides access to several privacy features. Thus, the user can set permissions per app and website traffic, phone calls and encrypt SMS exchanges. This does not mean that the phone is untouchable. As proved in September different apps vulnerable to a man in the middle attack.
