Kyocera presents phone on credit card format with e-ink screen

The Japanese manufacturer Kyocera has presented a telephone with a credit card size e-ink screen. The screen is 2.8 “and the device runs on a modified version of Android, including 4g and Wi-Fi.

The KY-01L is 91x53mm, slightly larger than a credit card that is 86mm long. The screen occupies approximately 48 percent of the front of the device. It is an e-ink screen with a resolution of 640×400 pixels, approximately 270 pixels per inch. There is a 4G modem in the device and that offers speeds of up to 100Mbit / s down and 37.5Mbit / s up, reports Buzzap .

The software is Kyocera’s own interface based on Android and offers, among other things, a calendar, calculator and a browser. Due to the low refresh rate of e-ink, browsing according to various hands-ons does not go smoothly, but it does work. The battery has a capacity of 350mAh, about the same as in many smartwatches.

Kyocera only delivers the device to the Japanese provider NTT Docomo, which sells it for 9999 yen from the end of November, currently about 78 euros.
