Find a Question:
Laptops and all-in-ones offer half 2016 8k display
The Video Electronics Standards Association has embedded DisplayPort 1.4 standard updated to version 1.4b. Half 2016 have laptops, tablets and all-in-ones, provide support for EDP 1.4b and send so include 8k-screens.
Version 1.4b is in accordance with the VESA now ‘production ready’ but the content has not changed much. It offers compared 1.4a especially optimizations. For example, is the protocol for self refresh panel to change a part of the screen expanded. Panel self refresh ensures that parts of the screen with static content can not be refreshed in order to reduce energy consumption. The selective update protocol now contains, in addition to the x-axis coordinates of the frame portion that an update should be given, including those of the y-axis. The result is that screen manufacturers quartz crystal or crystal oscillator no longer need to add the timing, which brings the cost down.
Edp to 1.4 for two years. The standard offers a link rate of 8,1Gbit / s per lane. The lanes may be divided into two or four independent segments or panel are all used for a theoretical bandwidth of 25,92Gbit / s. This high throughput should be controlled displays with 8k resolutions and greater color depths within reach. Probably it still takes years to get laptops and all-in-ones 8k screens. Sharp showed last year or a 13.3 “-oled screen with the resolution of 7680×4320 pixels, but it was a prototype.
GPUs and CPUs which edp 1.3 support should be able to handle the 1.4 standard promises VESA. The organization starts with the preparations for embedded DisplayPort 1.5.Viewing:-133
