Leak at Hello Kitty fansite poem
Sanrio, the owner of Hello Kitty, says the security hole that led to have a server hack, poem. The database with more than 3.3 million users of sanriotown.com, the official fansite include Hello Kitty, was put online by hackers.
Sanrio Digital says the problem is investigated internally, and that the leak is stopped. Also, several new security measures would be put on the servers. According Sanrio there is no other information stolen or disclosed. Also, there would be no credit card or other payment information are captured. Passwords payment information would be stored securely, announced the company on NBC.
The captured database contains according to previous reports by other names, dates of birth, gender, country of origin and e-mail addresses. Because it is Hello Kitty lovers go, there are many accounts of children among them. The SHA-1 password hashes are also in the street and were not gesalt, together with any hints and answers.
Not only the site behind sanriotown.com used the database. Other sites of the Japanese company behind Hello Kitty and other characters use the same database. How long the information already online, is not known. The oldest date is to figure out, is November 22, 2015.
